PORTIA
Inquire the Jew's house out, give him this deed
Find where the Jew lives, then give him this deed
And let him sign it: we'll away to-night
And have him sign it. We will leave tonight
And be a day before our husbands home:
Arriving home a day before our husbands.
This deed will be well welcome to Lorenzo.
Lorenzo will be well pleased with this deed.
[Enter GRATIANO]
GRATIANO
Fair sir, you are well o'erta'en.
Kind sir, I’m pleased that I have caught you up
My Lord Bassanio upon more advice
My Lord Bassanio, with some more persuasion,
Hath sent you here this ring, and doth entreat
Has sent this ring to you, and does request
Your company at dinner.

PORTIA
That cannot be:
I can’t do that.
His ring I do accept most thankfully:

GRATIANO

NERISSA
Sir, I would speak with you.

[Aside to PORTIA]
I'll see if I can get my husband's ring,
I’ll see if I can get my husband’s ring
Which I did make him swear to keep for ever.
Which I have made him swear he’ll keep forever.
PORTIA
[Aside to NERISSA]
Thou mayst, I warrant. We shall have old swearing
I bet you can. I’m sure we’ll have them swearing
That they did give the rings away to men;
That they both gave their rings away to men;
But we'll outface them, and outswear them too.
But we’ll outsmart them and we’ll talk them down.
[Aloud]
Away! Make haste: thou knowist where I will tarry.
Go on, make haste! You know where I’ll be waiting.
NERISSA
Come, good sir, will you show me to this house?
Come, good sir, will you show me where the Jew lives?
